Vernon Hodge

Mr. Vernon Harold Hodge, son of the late John P. Hodge and Carrie Lee Hodge, was born on February 14, 1951, in Durham, NC. He departed this life on February 10, 2026, at the VA Hospital, in the Heroes Way (Hospice) Center in Durham, NC.

Vernon graduated from Merrick Moore High School in 1969. Vernon joined the Army in 1974 and served until honorably discharged in 1977.

Vernon worked as a Machinist at IBM until retirement. Vernon had a passion for cars and enjoyed building motors and working on his 1957 Chevy.

Vernon leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Nellie H. Lennon, Janet Haskins, of Durham, NC, Caroline Hodge of Morrisville, NC; three brothers, Darryl W. Hodge (Yvonne) of Florida, John P. Hodge Jr. of Durham, NC, Shelton R. Hodge (Norma) of Creedmoor, NC. Vernon was a father figure to LaToya Brown. Vernon also leaves to cherish nieces and nephews, and host of relatives and friends.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, John P. Hodge and Carrie Lee Hodge, and sister, Conti L. Hodge.
