Tony Pierce, affectionately known as Tony, was born on July 4, 1958 in Edenton, North Carolina. He peacefully transitioned on August 17, 2025, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He was 67 years old.
Tony was a man of strength, humility, and deep faith. A hard worker by nature, he spent many years employed with Today Inc. in Pennsylvania and later continued his dedication to service during his time at Granville County Schools where he took joy in working with exceptional children. Tony had a heart for helping others and his selfless service and unwavering presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. That was the kind of man Tony was–strong, loving, generous, and deeply rooted in faith.
He received his high school diploma from John A Holmes High School in Edenton, North Carolina and later attended Winston Salem State University where he received his degree in Physical Health Education. Tony dedicated over 20 years of his life mentoring others, leaving an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues. He was also a part of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Tony was the pastor of Healing Waters Ministries where he faithfully served alongside his wife Pastor Francine Conyers-Pierce for over 10 years. He also faithfully served under his spiritual mother, Apostle Vanessa Livingston and Miracle Deliverance Prophetic Temple of God located in Trenton, New Jersey.. His wisdom, guidance, and unwavering faith was the cornerstone of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Pierce, his beloved mother Carrie Pierce, two brothers, Cecil and James Pierce, two sisters, Lillie and Juarez Pierce, and nephew Timothy Rankin.
Tony leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Francine Conyers-Pierce; his devoted daughter, Tequila Chante Harris; his brother, Charles Pierce and niece Amanda Pierce. He will also be remembered fondly by a host of cousins, extended family, church family, and friends. Though his earthly journey has ended, Tony’s legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to shine through all who knew and loved him. He lived as a pillar of strength, wrapped in kindness and will always be remembered as the “Gentle Giant.”
