Sharon Mills Rogers

On January 12,1952 Sharon Mills was born to the late Willa Mae and Frank Mills. Sharon attended New York City public schools, graduating with John Bowne High School’s first desegregated class.

Willa Mae and Frank raised Sharon along with her older brother Charles, who preceded her in death, in Harlem, New York. Sharon and Charles where very close although there was a nine-year age gap, Sharon looked at Charles not only as a big brother but as a best friend. At the age of thirteen Sharon and her family moved from Harlem to Richmond Hills Queens, New York.

Sharon married the late John Rogers, the two were blessed with a son. John Tarae Rogers, who was the apple of her eye. Tarae preceded Sharon in death. Tarae along with Sherry blessed Sharon with four grandchildren Whitney, Psikwuan, Kymora who Sharon affectionately called “Pumpkin” and Kymyia who preceded her in death.

The union of Sharon and John was also blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Lakeshia Nicole Mills. Keshia blessed Sharon with three grandchildren Shadai, Dilou and Philise. Unfortunately, Keshia and her children preceded Sharon in death, and took a piece of her heart along with them.

Sharon was also blessed to welcome into the world her baby girl Laurean Robinson, by her Life Partner Tommy Robinson. Laurean blessed Sharon with one grandson LeRyan “Ish” who was lovingly called Boobie by Sharon and he called her Boobie in return.

Sharon also played a significant role in the lives of the children who were born to the union of her brother Charles and his late wife Betty Robinson Wells. Marvin, Kevin “Cub”, Allen “Eric”, Sean and Charla where all loved and nurtured by Sharon as if they were her own children.

With compassion and care Sharon worked as a Home Health Technician for many years. Until her retirement in 2018.

Sharon loved to cook, most known for her moist and delicious cakes. She also loved music and to dance. Sharon enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her children and grandchildren cooking and dancing.

In her later years Sharon rededicated her life to Christ and joined Zion Gospel Church. Where she praised and worshiped the lord.

In 2023 Sharon along with Tommy migrated to Durham, N.C. to be with Tarae, Laurean and the grands.

Surrounded by love Sharon was called home to be with the Lord and her loved ones on February 6, 2025.

Sharon leaves to mourn her Life Partner Tommy, Daughter Laurean, Four Grandchildren Whitney, Psikwuan, Pumpkin and Boobie, Three Great Grandchildren Tahir, Niko and Jordan and her daughter-N-Love Sherry.

Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
