Sandra Rose Turner, 67, of Durham passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and pets, on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
She was born May 22, 1957, as the only daughter of seven children to James Clyde Rose and Ethel Mae Wyatt in Tazewell County, Virginia. Affectionately known as Sandy, she was tiny but fierce in her support of those less fortunate, humans and animals alike. Her exuberance as a spirited story teller drew many near her and served as a testament to her love of life and all of God’s creations. Family came first in her life, followed by her support to a fair and just world through social justice. Sandy believed in equality for all, and lived a life full of generosity and charitable acts, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
In addition to her parents, husband Ronnie Turner, brothers Matthew, David, Robert, and Ronald Rose preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter Amber Rudisill, of Durham, NC, her son Joshua Rudisill and partner Steven Lynchard of Durham, NC, and brothers Mark Rose and James Rose of Hickory, NC.
In memory of Sandy, the family requests that you gather with loved ones or neighbors, to share your best stories, and always remember to vote.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
