Neville Grant McClain was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina to Princie Lee Brown and James Alexander McClain, Sr. Neville and his family lived in Gastonia, NC for a short time. In his primary years he attended Rhyne Elementary School, Gastonia, NC; Asbury Elementary School, Lincolnton, NC where he loved to sing "When the Red Red

Robin comes Bob, Bob Bobbing Along," and then in 1973, CC Spaulding Elementary School in Durham, NC. Durham became Nevilles permanent home until his death. He is survived by his mother Princie L. McClain, brother James A. McClain both live in Durham, NC, and sister Nataki K. Ankomah (fka Daphne McClain Brown) brother-in-law Agymah K. Ankomah (fka Quinton M. Brown) of Mitchellville, MD., and a host of nieces and nephews.
