It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martha Maria Cruz Machado on August 8, 2024, in Durham, NC. Born on August 29, 1971, in Camp Lejeune, NC, Martha was an incredible woman whose life was filled with love, kindness, and a spirit that touched everyone around her.

Martha was born to Charles and Martha Williamson and grew up closely with a loving grandmother that instilled in her the values of giving and kindness. She carried these values with her throughout her life, making a significant impact on everyone she met.

Martha’s life was blessed with two profound marriages. She was married to Manuel Lopez Paz for 21 years, and later found love again in Roger Cruz Machado, with whom she shared the last 9 years of her life. Her family was the center of her universe, and she was the proud mother of five sons: Daniel, Eric, Loreto, Sebastian, and Oved, and one daughter, Victoria. Her family extended to include a loving brother, Robert, and eight cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Selina, Jaiden, Kailyn, Jordin, Jr, Ava, and Cade. Martha also leaves behind her uncles, Bobby and Nick, her aunt Tammy, and her beloved cousins, Heather and Jennifer.

Martha found joy and fulfillment in her work these past few years as a Walmart sales associate. She was known for her helpfulness, always going the extra mile for her colleagues and customers alike. Her approach to work was a reflection of her character – giving, caring, and dedicated.

Martha had a zest for life that was evident in her many hobbies and interests. She loved crafting, cooking, and had a special passion for decorating during Halloween and Christmas. Her home was always a warm, welcoming place, especially during the holidays, where her creativity and love for celebration made every moment special.

Martha was a woman of many characteristics; she was giving, caring, stubborn, prideful, helpful, and above all, loving. Her legacy is one of deep familial bonds, unwavering kindness, and a life lived fully and joyfully.

While our hearts are heavy with the loss of Martha Maria Cruz Machado, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Martha’s life will be held at La Iglesia El Buen Pastor in Durham NC, on August 31st at 4:30pm. Family and friends will gather to honor her memory and share in the joy she brought to the world.
