Maquitta Bell Obituary

Mrs. Maquitta Shantel Bell was born on September 3, 1979, in Durham, NC, to the late Aquilla Rogers Heartley and Fred Burns of Charlotte NC.

Maquitta entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 13, 2024. Maquitta attended Southern High School. She was the middle child of her moms 3 girls and was known as the firecracker until she gave her life to Christ at an early age. She then became our prayer warrior. She was blessed with her first child Jonathan and after many years of trying to conceive, God blessed her with her miracle girl, Charity.

Maquittas journey with her illness was a testament of her faith and trust in God. As a believer she was firm in her belief that His plan was the only plan that mattered.

Her last wish was to visit clear blue waters before she left this earth, and her husband made her wishes come true for their anniversary. As her familys intercessor, you could always count on Maquitta to pray for the ones she loved. You could count on her to speak her mind and tell the truth.

Maquitta was preceded in death by her mother, Aquilla Rogers Heartley, her grandmothers, Patricia Rogers and Bertha Jones, her sister, Kamia Rogers, her godfather, Derrick Davis (Hump), and aunt, Teresa Davis.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories, her husband, Johnnie Bell, her daughter, Charity Leid, son, Jonathan Leid, step children, Norissa Bell, Monica Satterwhite, Breonnia Satterwhite, Jamal Tomilison, father, Fred Burns (Brenda), step father, Rodrigue Heartley (Jackie), mother-in-law, Carrie Mckinney, sister-in-law, Mary Bell, Angeletta Holeman (Adrian), Ebony Burns, three brothers, Quandus Burns, Fred C. Burns II (Zequasha), Kermit Burns (Michelle), two aunts, Catenna Rochelle (Tony) and Jacquelyn Mitchell (Robert), uncle James Rogers (Lori), a great-uncle, Charlie Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves to cherish her memories, one very special friend, Tamara Turner.
