Lonita Whitted

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mother Lonita Whitted, a beloved leader, educator, and friend to so many in our community. She departed this life on September 2, 2025, at the age of 83.

As the Executive Director of Toddlers Academy, Inc., which she founded in 1972, Lonita dedicated her life to creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for countless children. Through her vision and steadfast leadership, the Academy grew into more than a preschool—it became a place where families found support, teachers found purpose, and children discovered a love of learning.

Lonita’s impact reached far beyond the classroom. She was known for her grace, her tireless dedication, and her ability to make everyone feel valued. She believed deeply in the power of education and community, and her legacy continues through the many lives she touched.

Her light, love, and legacy will live on in the community she so faithfully served
