Kenneth Davis

February 18, 1958 — March 6, 2025

Kenneth Davis “Red” was born on February 18, 1958 to the late Carl Herbert and Louise Davis in Durham, North Carolina. Kenneth fell asleep peacefully, entering into his eternal resting place on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Duke Medical Center.

Kenneth received his early education in the Durham County Schools System; and began his career as a chef at an early age. He worked for many years in numerous surrounding restaurants and cafeterias. Cooking was his livelihood and he worked in this profession until he could no longer do so.

“Red”, as he was so affectionately known, loved preparing food for his family and friends. You could always count on him to be in the kitchen or on the grill preparing a meal at any given time for a small or large number of folks! He exuded light and laughter to everyone around him. He had a way of making everyone around laugh about an old story he had told or with his witty mannerisms. Red will always be remembered for his “larger than life” personality, his strength, his humor, his cooking and his love for his family and friends.

Kenneth joined the church as an adult and always believed that God was in control. As a believer, he was firm in his belief that God’s plan was the only plan that mattered.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Carl Davis; his mother, Louise Davis; two brothers, Derrick and Martin Davis; and sister, Teressa Davis.

He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memories, two sons, Kenneth L. McNeil and Carlos Davis of Durham, NC; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Graham Davis (Valerie), Ronald Davis, both of Durham, NC and Carl Davis, Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two very special cousins, Carl E. Davis and Nancy Davis-Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
