When Kenneth A. Brown was born on December 6, 1955, in Bronx, New York, his father, Early Roger Brown, was 24, and his mother, Virginia F. Fogle, was 23. Kenneth passed away on August 6, 2024, in Durham, North Carolina, at the age of 68. He now joins his beloved brother, Cecil Brown, and his parents, Early Roger Brown and Virginia F. Fogle, in heaven.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn Brown and Kenneth Jamal Bell, his daughter-in-law, Latiecea Hailey-Brown, and his grandchildren, Shawn Brown Jr., Stephaun Brown, and Giana Bell. Kenneth also leaves behind his siblings: his brother, Terrance Brown, and his sisters, Cecelia Fisher, Pamela Brown, and Gwendolyn Pettigrew. His extended family includes his nieces, Kisha and Angela, and his nephews, Lura (BJ), Ola, Lenny, Jordan, Justin, as well as great-nephews Malik, Jermaine, Troy, Jeremiah, and Breyelle, and great-niece Kali. Additionally, he is survived by Gloria, the mother of Shawn Brown, his sister-in-law, Chandell, and his brother in-law, Ronnie. Kenneth was married to Linda Brown, who has also passed away, and was a widower of Anita Bell Brown. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Nikki Ingram, the daughter of Linda Brown, and numerous cousins from the Brown and Felder families. He is further survived by his in- laws from the Hailey family, as well as members of the Grant family, relatives of his son Shawn Brown.
Kenneth retired from Montefiore Hospital after many years of dedicated service. Over the years, he worked multiple jobs in security, limousine services, and various other roles. Kenneth had a passion for sports, especially basketball and football, and he enjoyed watching kung fu movies and anything on cable television.
Kenneth was loved by many, including friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and church members. Whenever he called, he always made it a point to ask about everyone in the family, regardless of their lineage. He was naturally humorous and had a caring heart. Kenneth loved the Lord and was a member of White Rock Baptist Church in Durham, NC. He was also a devout member of Firm Foundation Christian Fellowship and a friend to Pastor Jamal Quinn.
As we remember Kenneth today, we find comfort in the words of the Bible: "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your master." — Matthew 25:23
Kenneth's life was marked by his love for his family, his unwavering faith, and his joyful spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
