Jimmie Collins Jr, affectionately called "Boop" was born in Syracuse, New York on February 9, 1961 to Wilhelmina Dey and Jimmie Collins Sr. Jimmie transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday December 22, 2023. He attended Syracuse City Schools. After graduating from Henninger High School in 1980, He attended State University at Albany New York where he earned his BA in Afro-American Studies, Sociology, and Philosophy. He was an avid sportsmen excelling in Football, basketball, track and field, gymnastics, lacrosse, wrestling, and soccer. His career in Human Services expands over 44 years and includes Director of Program Operations, Assistant Program Director, Qualified Professional, Certified Peer Support Specialist, He was the coach of North East BG Steppers and BG Divas (ages 5 -18 yrs. old). Jimmie was a genuine loving person with a good heart. He was the comedian in the family and made everyone laugh. Jimmie was a member of The River Church, Duham NC under Bishop Ronald L. Godbee and served on Connections Ministry. He was baptized at his former church, Love First Christian Center under the late, Pastor Holice Robertson (2020) and Pastor June Robertson.
On July 2, 2001, he and the love of his life, Tracie V Gillerson were united in holy matrimony.
On December 22, 2023 Jimmie transitioned into the presence of the Lord with his wife and family around him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Essie McGriff, and Julius Collins, maternal grandparents Betty Pertilla, and Martin Irons Sr., and his sister Justine R. Collins. Here to celebrate his life and to carry on his legacy is his devoted wife and love of his life of 25 years, Tracie V. Collins, his daughter Shafonna Collins of Columbus Ohio, Kitaeji (Jamie) Pless of Cornelia Ga, Tiera (Elijah) Farrar of Durham NC, his sons Jimmie Collins III of Bronx, NY, Tyler J. Collins of Greensboro, NC; 6 grandchildren: Aaliyah Collins, Tatiana Collins, Kihyonna Allen, Aisha Pless, Nyeemah and Noah Farrar.
Jimmies parents Wilhelmina Dey, and Jimmie Collins Sr.; Siblings Vickie Irons, Tonya Collins, Nichole Washington, Dennis Collins Sr., DeVaughn Collins, Martin Collins Sr., and Adrien Vance (Sabrina) Collins.
A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends: Bryant Hall, Gregory McCormick, Shawn Hall, and Ghana Garland.
If we could hear Jimmie speak right now, this is what he would say, 'I've already been poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing' (2Tim 4:6-8 NASB).
