Frank Melvin Lamb transitioned home on August 8, 2024, at his home with his wife Renee by his side.
Frank was born on February 24, 1958, to Curtis (Candy) and Era Lamb in Phenix City, Alabama. He graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1976. He attended electrical trade school which prepared him for his federal service as an employee for the Department Of Defense. Frank dedicated his entire federal service to the Department of Defense starting at Sacramento Army Depot and retiring at Red River Army Depot in 2012. During his service he was called upon to travel stateside and abroad including during Operation Desert Storm traveling for several months at a time. But Frank never saw it as a hardship but as his duty to support the men and women in service. It was this sense of duty that led Frank to enlist in the United States Army Reserve, but in the last week of boot camp he had a sickle cell crisis. The Army recognized his willingness to serve and as such he received a Honorable Discharge in September of 1980. Frank married the love of his life, Carletta Renee Lamb, whom he lovingly called “Nae” on February 8th, 1982, and they shared 42 wonderful years together.
Frank had a passion for giving back to the community and while living in Sacramento founded the Sacramento Flag Football Association which was famous for putting on flag football tournaments for adults and youth. His tournaments for Anti-Drug were supported by the Sacramento City Council until his job was transferred to Shreveport, Louisiana. As a child Frank was ill a lot and in and out of hospitals. It was years later he was diagnosed with Sickle Cell. As he became a young man, he heard frequently from physicians that he wouldn’t live or he shouldn’t be alive now, but God had other plans. Because he was a sickle cell survivor, he was a frequent giver to the national and local sickle cell chapters (Sacramento, CA and Shreveport, LA) and was frequently recognized by the Shreveport Sickle Cell Chapter for his service.
He is survived by his wife Renee, their two daughters: Victoria Smith (Married to Justin Smith) and Whitney Lamb, and two grandchildren: Micah and Kenton Smith. He is also survived by his mother Era Lamb, his sister Barbara Lamb and aunts, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Curtis (Candy) Lamb and his brother Curtis Lamb.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National and/or Local Alzheimer's Association.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
