Edward Broadie Obituary

Mr. Edward LeRoy Broadie, Sr., son of the late Mr. Willard and Lula Broadie, and maternal mother Mrs. Mae Francis Broadie. He was born on November 16, 1971, in Durham, North Carolina and departed this life on February 13, 2024, at the Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Healthcare in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Mr. Broadie joined Fisher Memorial United Holy Church at an early age, where he attended with his late father Mr. Willard Broadie, Sr. He attended Durham Public School and would spend his evenings at the John Avery Boys and Girls Club, learning a variety of sports and youth enrichment life skills. Mr. Broadie was employed at numerous restaurants in the Durham area as a cook. His passions were fixing electronics and cooking for family gatherings. Pepper steak and lamb was his specialty that would melt in your mouth and have you coming back for seconds. He was a comical and humorous person who would always have you laughing. Mr. Broadie leaves to cherish his memory: three sons, Edward Leroy Broadie, Jr., DaRontay Montaez Adams-Broadie, Samuel Gerald White of Durham, NC; two daughters, Zyara LaShea Daye of Durham, NC, La`Kai Aiyana Saunders of Louisburg, NC; four sisters, Ernestine Allen, Carolyn Allen, Rachel Wilson, all of Durham, NC, Velicia Alford (Timothy) of Burlington, NC; two brothers, Keneth Ray Allen, Sr., Larry Stuart of Durham, NC; five aunts, Evelyn Grace Short (Demorris), Rachel Jean Riggins Parks (Edward), all of Durham, NC, McKenzie Gillis of Charlotte, NC, Eloise Gayle of Henderson, NC, Marie Brodie of New York City, NY; eight grandchildren, DaRontay Montaez Adams-Broadie, Jr., Kaitlyn Adams-Broadie, Ashante Adams, Addison Adams, Christian Moore, Joshua Moore, Isiah Thomason, Majestic Daye; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
