Lillian Creveling peacefully fell asleep in death after a brief illness. Lillian—affectionately known as “Babe” by her family and closest friends—was a beautiful and precious person, inside and out.
Born in Newark, NJ, she married the love of her life, John, in 1955, just one week after graduating high school. They built a loving life together, spending most of their marriage in Syracuse, NY, before relocating to Durham, NC, in 2003. Married for nearly 54 years before John’s passing, they raised four children, who in turn blessed them with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian cherished the time she spent with each of them.
Lillian was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1963 and found joy in teaching others about God and the Bible’s comforting hope for the future, as promised in Revelation 21:3–4. She was a naturally happy person, known for sharing silly jokes, laughing easily, and lifting the spirits of others.
She was also exceptionally kind and generous. Many will remember her at her sewing machine—altering clothes, crafting thoughtful gifts, and giving of her time and talents with love.
Lillian was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
