Christine Parker Obituary

On Monday, March 18, 2024, God saw fit to pluck one of the most beautiful flowers in his garden, Christine Parrish Parker. She exchanged all of her earthly pain and worries for eternal rest into the presence of god.

Christine was born into the loving arms of the late Lizzie Harris and Willie Lee Parrish in Rougemont, North Carolina, on August 24, 1948. After the passing of her late father, her mother relocated her family to Durham (Haytti) North Carolina. Her mother met and remarried the late Elam Henderson. Christine started her education in the Person County School system and later completed in the Durham City School system, graduating from Durham High. Christine gave her life to Christ as a young child and attended her family church in Rougemont, North Carolina. On January 31, 1972 she was united in marriage to Charles Parker. In her young adult years, she attended Bell-Yeager Free Will Baptist Church. Later in life she rededicated her life and attended Faith Gospel Tabernacle United Holy Church.

Christine was a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 40 plus years. She received numerous recognitions from the Kindred health system for her outstanding accomplishments and service to the company. She had a passion for taking and helping care for those in need whether it was with a smile on their face or hope for a better quality of life despite any health or physical challenges they might have had. Christine retired from Lasalle Health Care in 2013 after 30 years of dedicated service.

Christine was not only a loving mother, but a kind and loving grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who was dedicated to the well-being of her family. Christine was the last surviving of her nine siblings which she often spoke about how much she missed them. Christine was a Virtuous woman that loved nurturing and caring for her children, grandchildren, and especially her great grandchildren after retiring. Christine loved to travel. Her last trip was to Dallas Texas last year. She enjoyed watching western TV shows while doing her crossword puzzle books relaxing in her recliner. She also enjoyed cooking, telling us family stories from her childhood, and listening and dancing to music at many gatherings and family functions. She was a beautiful woman of elegance and grace.

She is preceded in death by all her siblings, five brothers, William, Clyde, Oris, Isaiah Parrish, and Lenard Neal, three sisters Dorthy, Nellie Grace Parrish, and Emma Bullock, and one daughter In-law Amanda Parrish, and a special loving companion of 38 years Albert Broadie.

Christine leaves to cherish her love, memories, and legacy to: her four children Robert, and Derrick Parrish, Betina Parrish-Parker (Kelvin), and Timothy Parker all of Durham N.C.

Fifteen grandchildren Devon Parrish of Dallas T.X., Janine Jackson of Goldsboro N.C., Tanisha Cole of Newark N.J., Christian Parrish of Philadelphia P.A., Crystal (Jonthan)Livingston, Douglas Pegram, LeJules Pegram, Brittinay Poole, Derrick Poole, Lateist Shaw, Brittany Burnett, Charquita Parker, Keith Wright, Meshii Parrish, and Kelvin McLean all of Durham, N.C. Twenty four great grandchildren, Saniah, Douglas, Dynasti, KaLise, Milo, Zaniyah, Rihana, Jada, Bentley, Bryson, Josh, Cassey, Chase, Javion, Jalin, Kaylin, Xalin, Malaysia, Caleb, Jaziyah, Jaleer, Jasir, Dora, Denim,one sister in-law Joyce Neal, her best friend Sandra Howard, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
