Charlie Lamont Jones Sr.

Mr. Charlie Lamont Jones, Sr. was born September 21, 1946, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Mayhew Jones. He departed this life on October 23, 2024, to be with the Lord.

Charlie was a native of Durham, North Carolina and was educated in the Durham Public School System. He was a retired United States Army veteran, fighting in the Viet Nam War. Charlie was employed for a lengthy period of time at North Carolina Central University as a member of its janitorial department. Charlie was known for his kindness and very generous demeanor. He was also known for being one of the best mechanics in the city of Durham. Charles was also skilled in refurbishing cars. Charles was a devoted member of the (Veterans of Foreign Wars) or VFW Bingo Hall. Charlie will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father Mayhew Jones, Si., his mother Bertha Jones, his brothers Mayhew Jones, Jr., Milton Jones and Leon Jones, his sister Patricia Rogers, his son Charlie Jones, Jr., and his grandson Antwoine Hunt.

He leaves to mourn his passing, a god-sister Esther Norris, his daughters Tiffany Peace and Cherie Craun, his son Johnathan Ledd, his nieces Jackie Mitchell (Robert) and Cateena Rochell (Tony), his nephew James Rogers (Lori), his grandchildren Tatiana Henry, Charlie Jones, III, Brandon Miles, Kaliyah Hunt, Antoine Hunt, Jr., Carl Mantek

and Cameron Peace along with a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews and friends who love Charlie still.
